Speech therapy in adults with acquired apraxia of speech
Částková, Martina ; Horynová, Jana (advisor) ; Klenková, Jiřina (referee)
1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the issue of speech therapy intervention for adults with acquired verbal dyspraxia. The main goal of this special pedagogical research is to find out what procedures clinical speech therapists in the Czech Republic use as part of speech therapy intervention for patients with verbal dyspraxia. In accordance with the primary goal of the work, sub-goals are set, which determine what diagnostic materials clinical speech therapists use to diagnose acquired verbal dyspraxia in adult patients who have developed a neurogenic communication disorder due to a stroke, trauma or neurogenic disease and what therapeutic methods clinical speech therapists use in the therapy of persons with this diagnosis. Another sub-goal compares how clinical speech therapists are aware of the symptoms of verbal dyspraxia and whether they can easily recognise it based on this knowledge. The work presents data on neurogenic communication disorders, of which dysarthria, aphasia and oral apraxia were described in more detail. The next chapter deals with verbal dyspraxia separately, as it is the main topic of this thesis. The thesis ends with quantitative research, which was mediated by an electronic questionnaire survey, the respondents of which were clinical speech therapists and speech therapists in...

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Lucie Hacklová Supervisor: Mgr. Bc. Anna Rejtarová Title: Possibilities of Occupational Therapy Intervention in Patients after Acquired Brain Injury with Apraxia Abstract of the Thesis: The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the topic of apraxia and the possibilities of interventions for patients with apraxia after acquired brain damage. Apraxia is a disorder of motor planning, and this condition affects the performance of activities that the patient was able to manage before the acquired brain damage. This often limits his self-sufficiency and quality of life. With the help of special interventions, it is possible to help to recover faster and return to normal life. The thesis contains theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part focuses on acquired brain damage, in this case cerebrovascular accidents, the neurological aspect of apraxia and then to a greater extent on the types of apraxia, evaluations and the possibilities of intervention. In the practical part, 3 goals are set. The main goal is to create a manual for working with patients with apraxia based on selected interventions mentioned in the theoretical part. Gesture training and strategy training appear to be the most used and effective interventions through the studies, which is why exactly these are...
Occupational therapy intervention for children with Rett syndrome
Husovská, Veronika ; Hůlková, Pavla (advisor) ; Gerlichová, Markéta (referee)
This thesis deals to occupational therapy intervention for children with Rett syndrome. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe Rett syndrome and summary of occupational therapy interventions for girls with this disease. The thesis is divided into two parts. One is theoretical and the other is practical. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of Rett syndrome, its diagnosis, symptoms and 5 stages of the syndrome. The theoretical part describes the methods by which is possible to work with girls with Rett syndrome through the occupational therapy. The practical part contains two case studies of girls with this diagnosis. Elements of this theoretical methods and their interpretation were used in medical treatment of this girls. Practical knowledges show us that individual approach is important for the patient and so it is neccessary to use individually determined treatment plan. Key words: Occupational therapy, Rett syndrome, apraxia, compensation aids, girls, psychomotor evolution
Examination of Apraxia Following Stroke in Occupational Therapy
Zimolová, Lucie ; Havejová, Gabriela (advisor) ; Rejtarová, Anna (referee)
of the Thesis: Bachelor Thesis is interested in the possibility of diagnostics of apraxia following stroke in Occupational Therapy. The aim of the thesis is to find an appropriate test for the examination of apraxia following a stroke. Theoretical part deals with the issue of apraxia, describes its etiopathogenesis, possibilities of classification and introduces the clinical picture of an apractic patient in occupational therapy. A chapter itself is dedicated to the overview of individual tests. The conclusion of the theoretical part presents the summary of available tests for examination of apraxia. On this basis, tests to be compared in the practical part are chosen. The practical part deals with the issue of selection of a suitable test for examination of apraxia. Three freely available testing instruments discovered in the theoretical part are compared. These tests are the Naturalistic Action Test, Apraxia Test and Apraxia Screen of TULIA. All of them are rated in pre-terminated areas which are based on information acquired in the theoretical part of the thesis. Each patient did undergo all three of the tests, thus creating seven casuistries. Knowledge gained from the practical use of the tests reflects on their overall rating. The conclusion of the practical part finds the Apraxia Test the...
